Because Beka made a pilot error, Andromeda arrives near the planet Baltria where a riot is taking place. The ruler of Baltria asks the crew to help. Beka and Rhade go planetside together to try to find the rebels. It turns out Dylan was on the planet 300+ years ago, and he still has promises to keep and problems to resolve.
Jolted out of slipstream, the Andromeda appears over the New Commonwealth planet, Baltria, home of the Ch'kadau people. Overdeveloped and in revolt, the brave new world is locked in the grip of a three hundred year old prophecy. Dylan, once on the surface and lost in a nightmarish flashback of fighting and sprinting through a field of red flowers, believes it is fate.
